Situated a little over 30 kilometers north of Kathmandu, the valley of Langtang lies hidden amidst the snow-capped peaks of the Langtang and Fugal Himal ranges. Inhabited by people of Tibetan origin, this valley, where Yaks abound, extends north towards Tibet bordered by high Himalayan walls.
We begin this trek at the entrance of Langtang National Park and pass through the Taming/Sherpa village of Seabrook, before entering the narrow gorge of Langtang Kola. Following the densely forested Langtang Kola, we encounter languor monkeys, deer and several species of Himalayan birds before reaching the hidden valley of Langtang which opens up to us as we view the magnificent massif of Langtang Lirung (7239m./ 23750ft.) at Gore Tabela.
From Kyangjin, site of a Buddhist monastery and cheese factory, we climb for the Kyangjin Ri 4,773m/ 15,655 ft. for the best view of the mountains in the Langtang and Jugal Himal massif. The mountains here 'drawn in soft pencil on white a paper’ come down to meet the lush alpine meadows. Staying high we watch the impressive colour play of nature, as the setting sun changes from a gold bright to fading pink against the summits of these majestic mountains. If we are lucky, there is also a chance to sight the elusive snow leopard!

Inhabited by Hylomo people Helambu area situated 75 kilometer north of Kathmandu offers an easy and enjoyable trek. Trekking in this area mostly staying below alpine level, passing through wide & low river valley, terraced fields, forested hills and houses with immaculately clean interiors provides one with a very interesting cross section of a special highland village of Nepal. Women here wear dress of printed cotton with an apron in behind. Helambu women are well known for their apple like red cheeks and fair complexion in all over Nepal. They are considered the most beautiful ones. The Hylomo poeple speak a language which resemblances to Tamang language.
We start this unique trek with a short drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal. Soon after we pass the Shivapuri ridge from where we have a sweeping view of the mountain in the Jugal and Langtang Himal range. We, then pass through some Tamang, Brahman and Chetri villages before we climb for the alpine meadows at Thadepati. This is trek in combination of both Langtang and Helambu Valley via the Gosaikunda lakes. Believed to created by lord Shiva in search of water to dilute the burn from poison which he accepted to drink as god's share from the great ocean churn by the Devas ( gods ) and Rakshasas ( demons ) in the Hindu mythology, it is a major pilgrimage site for the Hindu / Buddhist populace of Kathmandu Valley. Every year during the full moon month of August thousands of people from the Valley make their first trek of their life to bathe in the holy waters of the Gosaikunda lakes. Accompanying the devotees, a great number of Dhami and Jhankris ( Shaman / Witch Doctors ) dressed in long white dresses, peacock feather crown, line of bells worn around shoulders and playing a big drum with an 'S' shaped stick also flock to the holy lakes to appease lord Shiva and gain more spiritual power to heal illnesses.
We begin this trek with a drive to Dhunche from where we first trek in to the Langtang Valley. After exploring the Langtang Valley we trace back our footsteps to Syabru from here a higher trail climbs up for the Gosaikunda lakes passing through Shingompa, a site of a monastery and cheese factory. Next to Shingompa we arrive at the lakes where we see three lakes at 4,100m/13,348ft and 4,380m/14,366ft.and then cross the 4,610m/ 15,120ft high pass of Lauribina ( where pilgrims throw their walking stick on their return to home from Gosaikunda). The trail after the Pass descends to Ghope and then again climb for Tharepati.
